In building your website you need more than a great looking site, In fact it would seem that the great websites are not so great looking so might be something in making your website dog ugly. A great website has to have great content, I am sure we all know that by now. Great content still need good site optimization so that others can find it. Know who you selling to. Before adding content to your site, it would help to know who you are trying to reach out to with your site. A site for video game reviews would have a different audience to say a site on Glass, So figure out who is going to be interested in your site. Choose the right keywords, most people are going to find your website from a search engine of some type, and they do that by typing in different type of keywords, it would help to know what keywords your targeted audience use. Using these keywords in your site content is important but do not over do it, shoot for about a 2-3 key word phrase and repeat them about 3 times each. But make sure this is not happening at the expense of great content.

Set the pages to the right size, the most important part of a website is about the first 450-650px. Internet web browsers are just that browsers, if your website content requires lots of scroll downs, it s probably not doing your guest any good as most would navigate away from your page before there can get in to the rest of all that great content. Be nice to your guest and cut the content up in smaller bite. If you have content that would require lots of scrolling splitting the content and adding links to the separate parts

Make your site easy to navigate. Great, your visitors got to your site, and you spend hours making sure they have great content everywhere for them to enjoy. You need to go an extra step now to make sure that navigating around your site is easy. Make sure your visitor can get to all your pages fairly easy and always give them a way back to the main page. If you have a large site, adding local search ability is a nice touch.

There is more to building a website than making a pretty page and stuffing it with content. You have to think of the people that are going to spend time there. Make their life easier, and make sure their visit to your site is pleasurable and fun and you will reap the benefits for years to come.
